A groundbreaking ceremony for a new mental health building at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center is planned for Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m. The ceremony location is the construction site located north of Building 28 and west of Building 9.
The annual Veterans Art Show is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, February 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Auditorium (Building 8) on the main campus of the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System. The show is open to the public.
All St. Cloud VA Health Care System clinical functions and services, including the Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Brainerd, Montevideo, and Alexandria, are scheduled to be open on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012. Administrative offices will be closed on Dec. 24.
As we gather with family and friends this year to enjoy the holiday season and the New Year and give thanks for our many blessings, there’s no better time to remember our men and women in uniform who have given our country the gift of freedom and liberty for generations.

Veterans come from all walks of life. They’re ordinary people living ordinary lives who are asked to do extraordinary things for their country.
Their acts of bravery and sacrifice to preserve American freedoms should never be taken for granted.
That was part of the message Major General Gerald E. Lang with the Minnesota Army National Guard delivered in Alexandria on Sunday, Veterans Day.
When people think of veterans, they often think of warriors, but Hurricane Sandy offers just the latest reminder of the significant humanitarian and often times life-saving work performed by our veterans on a daily basis.
