Mother knows best when it comes to the literal law of the land. A public hearing regarding nature’s reclamation of wetlands in County Ditch 23 opened Tuesday’s Douglas County Commissioners’ meeting. Commissioners also approved bids and accepted grants.
Things are heating up at the sheriff’s office in Douglas County – literally.
Recent summertime temperatures this spring have revealed a broken air-conditioning unit in the jail administration area. Sheriff Troy Wolbersen brought the item before the county commissioners on March 27.
Two options were presented: Replace the compressor, which uses outdated refrigerant, or replace the entire air-conditioning unit. Johnson Controls and Ellingson Plumbing and Heating submitted cost estimates for each option.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has a new jail up and running, construction is under way on a courts-holding facility at the courthouse, and now, Sheriff Troy Wolbersen is looking for more space for the sheriff’s office.
