On the morning after the Alexandria City Council supported a new idea to pay for street projects, the Douglas County Board also talked about the need for more transportation funding.
The board approved a resolution that encourages the Legislature to enact a law that brings adequate funding to Minnesota’s statewide transportation system.
When you go over the river and through the woods this Thanksgiving, you might still end up at Grandma’s house but the entity that maintains that route may not be the same. The cities of Alexandria and Osakis, Douglas County and the state of Minnesota have swapped ownership of portions of roads in the area.
The Minnesota Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan 2012-2031, a policy framework for maintaining and building Minnesota’s transportation system during the next 20 years, has been finalized and is available online, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
Motorists on Interstate 94 will experience lane closures and a detour at the Brandon exit (mile marker 90) starting today, Monday, Oct. 8, while crews replace a culvert. The work will take approximately 10 days to complete.
Motorists in west central Minnesota, including the Brandon area, will experience delays, detours and lane closures on several highways beginning today, October 2, as crews begin culvert repair and replacement projects.
