Nearly $6 million in improvements and maintenance projects for the Minnesota State Fairgrounds were approved by the fair's board of managers during the annual meeting of the Minnesota State Agricultural Society – governing body of the fair.
Douglas County Library has announced that Wednesday, August 29, is Read and Ride Day at the Minnesota State Fair. Anyone showing a valid public library card will receive discounted admission for a ticket purchased at the gate (one discount per card).
Getting ready for the seventh year at the Minnesota State Fair, the Eco Experience is making improvements. Every area of the exhibit has added new components to get Minnesotans to take action in their everyday lives.
The 2011 Douglas County 4-H Clothing and Textiles Day and Fashion Review were held July 28 at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria, with 4-H intern Jill Lundeen serving as emcee.
The public style show, themed “Mardi Gras – 4-H Style,” featured 36 outfits modeled by area 4-H members. The public is invited to view these 4-H exhibits and others at the Douglas Fair August 18-21.
Judging by the number of people in attendance, it was another successful Douglas County Fair.
Had Thursday’s weather been a little bit better, it could have been a record-breaking year, according to Dick Gulbranson, Douglas County fair board secretary.
