The Alexandria City Council will have a new look when it convenes in 2013. Sara Carlson, who has been serving as Ward 2’s council member, will be the new mayor. She defeated Mark Pederson in Tuesday’s election by a margin of 3,771 votes to 2,216. Incumbent Mayor Dan Ness is stepping down from the council.
