Red Bull troops take polar plunge in Kuwait
CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – This year is the 15th anniversary of the Minnesota Polar Bear Plunge. The plunge is held by the Minnesota Law Enforcement to benefit Special Olympics. Participants must raise a minimum of $75 and take a plunge into one of designated spots on one of Minnesota’s frozen lakes. In the last seven years, the plunge has increased from five to 16 plunge sites all over the state – including Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.

Daring souls get ready to take plunge in Alexandria
“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Inspired by the words of the Special Olympics athlete oath, hundreds of daring souls in Alexandria are registered and ready to take the Polar Bear Plunge, presented by Minnesota law enforcement for the benefit of Special Olympics Minnesota, by jumping into icy waters at the Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center.

Kids against hunger comes to Alexandria
Nobody likes to feel hungry. The youth group at Lake Community Church joined together with Kids Against Hunger on Wednesday evening for a packaging event in Alexandria. Children and teens donned hairnets and aprons with “Kids Against Hunger” printed on them as their eager hands started an assembly line combining components that would be made into meals around the world. More than 50 people attended the event.

It is amazing what people can do when they realize their own talents. After years of doubt in her abilities, Tracy Anderson of Alexandria realized her talent and pursued it. Anderson’s uncle is an artist and retired art professor. She remembered, as an enthused young girl, watching him draw and asking, “Can you draw me a horse?”
