Douglas County residents, city council members and county commissioners congregated at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria to hear local Republican leaders’ takes on DFL Governor Mark Dayton’s plans for Minnesota. Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen and Representatives Paul Anderson and Mary Franson shared their perceptions of Dayton’s tax proposal for 2014-2015 and took questions from an audience of approximately 50 people.

Alexandria council hears request to revive historic downtown building
It’s a grand old building filled with more than 100 years of history but it’s been sitting silent and vacant for the last decade. It’s the Carnegie Building that sits across from Alexandria City Hall on 7th Avenue West that was once the home of the Douglas County Library. Now, the Douglas County Historical Society (DCHS) wants to make it a vibrant part of the community once again.
