More changes ahead for city, county roads
When you go over the river and through the woods this Thanksgiving, you might still end up at Grandma’s house but the entity that maintains that route may not be the same. The cities of Alexandria and Osakis, Douglas County and the state of Minnesota have swapped ownership of portions of roads in the area.

Forum Communications Editorial - Vote Romney to move nation ahead
There’s little argument President Obama has been aggressive, bold and willing to take chances in the name of returning our nation to a place of prosperity and security. Recall his stimulus bills, the bailouts, the Affordable Care Act and even the daring mission that took out Osama bin Laden.

Letter - Is there separation of church and state?
Last Sunday, the Diocese of St. Cloud decided to tell its congregations how to vote. That institution is traveling down a dangerous path. They would be wise to study the history of countries like Russia, Greece, Iran and Portugal, which have historically been theocracies.

Letter - The legacy of pig factory farms
I grew up on the farm just to the north of the proposed site for the super-sized pig farm. I love that farm. I love sharing memories with my two young sons whenever we come home for a visit: “There’s the pond where we used to go skating in the winter. This swamp was our dog Charlie’s particular favorite for sliming himself with mud

Lorie Gildea campaigns on her record of Minnesota chief justice, telling voters she helped get more court funding and that she makes decisions based on the law, not her feelings. Klobuchar, Bills look through different lenses
Kurt Bills dumped several books on a table in his U.S. Senate campaign office, declaring they were his plan to fix the federal budget. He said those documents provided a “starting point,” admitting that key provisions such as eliminating the Education Department likely would be dropped in negotiations. Amy Klobuchar touted her vote on the Budget Control Act that would chop $2.2 trillion in federal spending over 10 years as her starting point.

I keep hearing President Obama say that he wants to tax the rich so they pay their fair share. I believe this may be the reason President Obama is not a businessman.

We need new leadership in the Minnesota Legislature. The last session was dominated by failed partisan politics, gridlock, divisive social issues, raising our property taxes, and borrowing money from schools to pretend the deficit was “fixed.”
