The complete package. That is what Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Chancellor Steven Rosenstone said employers expect of graduates. There is no evading a high demand to fill vacant manufacturing positions, especially in our region of the state. As the jobs have progressed over the years, so too has the skill set needed to successfully perform the duties of the previously labor intensive roles. Communication skills, a firm grasp on the English language, teamwork and problem solving skills are sought by today’s employers.

Experience Works helps food shelves, homeless on Thanksgiving
This Thanksgiving, more than 50 participants across Minnesota participating in the Experience Works Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), are processing and shelving food donations, keeping track of inventory, filling emergency food box orders, and helping to cook and serve meals at more than 30 Minnesota food banks, homeless shelters, and nutrition programs across the state.

Otter Tail Power Company crews return from East Coast
Seventeen Otter Tail Power Company linemen, service representatives and mechanics returned from Huntington, New York, in three digger derricks, four bucket trucks, a mechanic repair truck and two pickups. They assisted National Grid, the service provider for Long Island Power Authority, with disaster recovery in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, joining more than 60,000 electrical workers in the effort.

The Minnesota Vikings say Governor Mark Dayton and others are jumping the gun in criticizing the idea of selling pricey seats to some season-ticket holders. In strong language, Dayton wrote to Vikings owners complaining about their interest in selling high-priced seat licenses to raise money that would count toward the team’s contribution to a new, nearly $1 billion stadium.
