Political frenzy followed Wellstone crash
A decision Paul Wellstone made 10 years ago may have cost him his life, but it was typical for the U.S. senator. While running for his third U.S. Senate term representing Minnesota, Wellstone opted against appearing with former Vice President Walter Mondale and U.S. senators Edward Kennedy and Tom Daschle in the Twin Cities to instead attend the funeral of a friend on the Iron Range.

In an extremely close race for Alexandria School District 206, Angie Krebs won by just 55 votes out of more than 13,000 ballots that were cast. Results from all 37 precincts in Douglas County have now been tabulated.

More than 235,000 absentee ballots already cast in Minnesota
Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie announced today that more than 270,000 Minnesota voters have requested absentee ballots. Of the ballots requested, 235,205 have already been returned by the voter and accepted. Ritchie also reminded voters that the absentee ballot period ends today, November 5, for most voters.
