It’s fun to play at the YMCA, now more than ever. The J.A. Wedum Foundation in Minneapolis has awarded a $500,000 matching grant to the Alexandria YMCA to help build an 8,000-square-foot addition, which will bring the total square footage to 64,000 square feet.

The grants will distribute $2,182,573 to statewide organizations in 2013 to help arts organizations identify underserved communities, identify the barriers that keep them from engaging in the arts, and develop and implement strategies to reduce or eliminate the barriers.
