It's Our Turn: Parenting is the toughest of all jobs
Wikipedia defines parenting as “the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood.” Wish I had that definition when I decided to become a parent 16 years and nine months ago. At that time I relied on Webster’s Dictionary, which simply defined parenting as “the raising of a child.” That sounded a little more doable.

It's Our Turn - A challenging week for an editor
Like just about any job, there are parts of mine that are especially challenging. Especially during the political season. In the 22 years I’ve been editor, I’ve come to realize that if both political parties are angry with me, then maybe I’m doing my job. Or maybe there are lessons to be learned.

Editorial - Ask candidates tough questions
Have you ever wanted to ask someone running for office a question but something stopped you? Maybe you didn’t have the time. Maybe you never had the opportunity. I was riddled with “senioritis,” approaching finals, dealing with roommate situations, and just plain ready to be done with college. I’d had enough to last a lifetime. But, with less than a month left, I hadn’t even begun to think about where I would apply for a job, where a writing major was needed.
