Echo Press wins 23 awards in state contest
The Echo Press received the second most points in the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s annual contest among all non-daily newspapers in the state. For the second straight year, the Detroit Lakes Tribune, another Forum Communications Company newspaper, accumulated the most points, 86, to win the prestigious Mills Trophy. The Echo Press was next with 82 points, winning the Herman Roe Editorial Writing Award competition, six additional first place awards, six second place awards and 10 third place awards.

Wikipedia defines parenting as “the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood.” Wish I had that definition when I decided to become a parent 16 years and nine months ago. Bids begin for school
At a special meeting held May 31, the District 206 School Board took action to accept bids for the first contracts related to the new high school construction project. The combined bid packages for work such as paving, site electrical, irrigation and fencing totaled close to $6.8 million. Other site work bids still remain, but if they come in at the $1.7 million estimate, the project will be about $240,000 under the total site budget of $8.7 million.
