There’s a national champion living in the Osakis community. Averie Mounsdon, 9, is the top puller in the National Pedal Pull competition. In September, the Osakis third grader pulled 190 pounds of weight 29-feet, 9-inches to earn the national championship.

From beans blooming but not producing, to potatoes not blooming, to very late tomatoes, vegetable gardeners around the area are dealing with many problems they have not had to face in previous years.

In September of 1910, a humble family farm was purchased by Rudolph Jobe, where he cultivated corn, oats and hay. Now, more than 100 years later, his grandson, Paul Jobe, still owns and operates this very farm, located just south of Alexandria.
