Ice fishing challenge is back
After an Ice Fishing Challenge that didn’t go as anyone expected in 2011, the Alexandria Sertoma Club and members of the Viking Sportsmen are excited to put that behind them and get back on a familiar lake on February 11 from noon to 3 p.m. The 2012 Ice Fishing Challenge will be back on Lake L’Homme Dieu near the Kruger’s Creek access after moving to Lake Agnes last winter.

2011 State Fair poll results
Minnesotans do not appear willing to change the state’s Constitution to define marriage. Of the record 12,549 people participating in the 2011 House of Representatives State Fair Poll, 66.5 percent said the state Constitution should not be amended to define marriage as only a union of one man and one woman, while 29.8 percent believe the Constitution should be changed. The question will be asked on the November 2012 ballot.

FEBRUARY 2002 It took about five hours to clear the scene after an accident in a heavy snowfall on I-94 near Brandon in which a semi-tractor loaded with 30 beef cattle flipped over. A hole had to be cut in the roof of the trailer so the cattle could be unloaded and hauled away.
