A project to build a 24-unit townhome development for low to moderate income families will receive a tax break from the city of Alexandria. At its meeting Tuesday night, the city council voted 3-2 to approve a tax increment financing (TIF) request for Deer Ridge Townhomes.

One of the longest-running writers’ conferences in the upper Midwest is back in Sauk Centre for its 23rd year. The conference is on Saturday, October 13 at the Sauk Centre High School auditorium. The cost is $60, including lunch, breaks and a reception following at the Palmer House Hotel. College students and senior citizens may register for $55. High school students may attend for free but must register and pay $15 for lunch and breaks.
