Anita Dittman, an 84-year-old Holocaust survivor, will speak at West Moe Lutheran Church of Brandon Sunday, September 25 at 9 a.m. Dittman was a Jewish child in Germany during the 1930s and 40s and was 5 years old when Hitler came into power. Her family was torn apart by war and faced persecution and extreme poverty.

When the guy at the checkout asked me if asparagus could hold up to freezing temperatures, I thought he was referring to a malfunctioning refrigerator. Then, he put his hands in the air, layering them 4 or 5 inches apart. “My asparagus is about this big already,” he said. “It’s supposed to get down into the 20s tonight. I’m worried about the asparagus.”

During the Middle Ages, Norwegian stav churches had holes in the wall at which lepers could stand outside the sanctuary to hear the Gospel and receive the sacrament. Could this be a possible solution for present day Christians to accommodate gays, lesbians, bisexuals and the transgendered?
