  • Watschke has completed about 200 pieces of Intarsia in the last 15 years, including these pictured here. The variety of color in his work comes from using several different species of wood – everything from North American oak to zebrawood from Central America. What looks like a textured piece of wood on the chest of the elk is actually the grain of lacewood, a hardwood tree that grows in South America.
