Harold E. Nowling of Sauk Centre passed away peacefully at his home on November 3, 2012 at age 87.

Harold E. Nowling of Sauk Centre passed away peacefully at his home on November 3, 2012 at age 87.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church 304 Elm Street, Sauk Centre, with the Rev. Becky Thomas officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Inurnment will be at Fort Ripley, Little Falls, on Saturday, November 10.

Harold was born April 6, 1925 at Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Jacob and Rebecca (Becker) Nowling. At the age of 16, he moved to the Minneapolis area, where he graduated from Central High School.

Harold was a very proud World War II veteran. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 18 and took basic training at Camp Dodge in Iowa. Harold served as a fuselage mechanic, working on B29s.

Harold was united in marriage to Barbara (Arnold) and together they had four children. They later divorced.

Harold retired as a purchasing agent from Fineberg’s in 1983.

On April 9, 1988 Harold was united in marriage to Geri (Adolphsen Flaten) Nowling. They resided in St. Louis Park, Maple Grove, Glenwood and Sauk Centre. Harold and Geri spent many years traveling in their motor home and 5th wheel. They enjoyed wintering in many southern states. Harold loved to golf with his buddies. He and Geri enjoyed a long retirement filled with golf, travel, friends and family.

Harold is survived by his wife, Geri; his sister, Jeanette; his four children, Barry (Robin), Susan and Jonathon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Andrew (Mary) of St. Louis Park; five grandchildren, Chrissy, Carrie, Peter, Cori and David; two step-children, Jeff Flaten and Jan (Jeff) Hislop; five step-grandchildren, Nisse, Garrett, Ross, Andrea and Grant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Louis.
