Bernice Pfeffer, 100, Alexandria, died peacefully at Grand Arbor on Monday, October 22, 2012, surrounded by family.

She was born in St. Paul on March 10, 1912 to Axel and Josephine (Williams) Bergstrom. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On April 1, 1933 she married Edward Greig and together they were blessed with six children, Marlene, Gary, John, Bonnie, Jim and Michael. They made their home in Edina until Edward passed.

Bernice met LeVerne Pfeffer of Belle River and they were married in the Catholic Church in Minneapolis on August 18, 1973.

Bea had a zest for life. She touched and was touched by so many people in her family and community. She loved to knit and crochet and especially enjoyed sharing her hand-made treasures with those dear to her. She loved playing the piano and organ, and singing and dancing. She was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain family and friends and reminisce about the good old days. She enjoyed shopping and the many wonderful people she met along the way. Most of all, she cherished her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Vern; three children, Gary (Barb) Greig, Michael Greig, Bonnie (Norbert) Schneider; grandchildren, Dan (Luanne) Danko, Wendy Danko, Terry Danko, Alicia Greig, Jamie Greig, Heather (Harry) Gornold, Bart (Michelle) Schneider, Natalie (Aaron) Schmidt; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Florence, Eleanor and Vivian; first husband, Edward Greig; daughter, Marlene Pivic; sons, John and Jim Greig; and two nieces, June Carlson and Violet Nelson.

A memorial service for Bernice will be held Thursday, November 1 at 1 p.m. at Grand Arbor Community Chapel in Alexandria.

A private burial will be held at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis.
