Viola Bertram, 85, Spring Hill, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, September 29, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Viola Bertram, 85, Spring Hill, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, September 29, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, October 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery in Spring Hill.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. There will be no visitation at the church.
Viola was born October 19, 1926 in Belgrade to Steve and Josephine (Meyer) Gruber. She was united in marriage to Clarence Bertram on June 15, 1948 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. They farmed near Spring Hill all their married life.
She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She enjoyed her gardens, which were very large with a lot of vegetables. She enjoyed playing cards, playing Bingo and of course baking cookies and pies, canning peaches, homemade canned beef, making homemade chicken and beef soup. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Women and Mission group.
Viola is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Clarence; children, Corrine (Gary P.) Lieser of Spring Hill, Judi (Larry) Jansen of Sauk Centre, Joe L. Bertram Sr. of Paynesville, and Jeff (Marlene) of Paynesville; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Leo Gruber of Willmar; and sisters, Theresa Klehr of St. Martin and Marcella Hinnenkamp of Melrose.
Preceding her in death were her parents; infant grandchildren; sisters, Mary Krestes and Katherine Burg; and brother, Joe Gruber.
Viola’s family would like to thank the Coborn’s Cancer Center team for the personal care she received.
Memorials are preferred.
