Francis “Shorty” Delbert Paulzine, age 85, passed away peacefully at Peaceful Bliss on September 13, 2012.

Shorty was born March 30, 1927 on the family farm in Wilmont to Albert and Fanny (Kruse) Paulzine. When he was 14, the family moved to a farm north of Forada. In 1947, Shorty married Marian Irene Fiebranz. They were,blessed with three children, and they farmed until 1974. During this time Shorty helped,in building the ALP plant and helped neighbors with harvesting.

Leaving the farm, they built a home on Lake Ida. Between fishing trips to Canada, he built several homes in the surrounding area.

On January 21, 1995 he was united in marriage to Gladys (Jobe) Busch. They resided on the Busch farm by Forada. Shorty and Gladys did a lot of traveling, which involved elk and deer hunting and numerous fishing trips.

Shorty is survived by Marian Paulzine; son, Kenneth (Beverly) Paulzine; daughter, Dolly (Mark) Miller; grandchildren, Karen Williams Bouressa (Terry) Pate, Angela Williams (Dennis) Fouss, Jennifer Williams Lynch (Adan) Hauk, Jason and Nichole Paulzine, Sara Paulzine Doty; and nine great-grandchildren. Shorty is also survived by Gladys Busch Paulzine and her family; and many nieces and nephews.

Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Fanny; his siblings, Rose Vosberg, Lester, Donald and Raymond (Gus) Paulzine; and daughter, Susan Paulzine Williams.

A funeral service was held Monday, September 17 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The Rev. David Hinz and the Rev. Terry Finnern officiated. Kristi Wussow provided music. Interment followed at Hudson Cemetery in Hudson Township. The urn bearer was Jason Paulzine. Honorary urn bearers included Jerald Fiebranz, Alan Craig, Tom Hvezda, Danny Kakac, Marlan Vosberg and Dale Paulzine.
