Harry H. Brockopp, 81, Alexandria, passed away peacefully Monday, September 3, 2012 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 22, 1931 in Frazee to the Rev. Robert and Melinda (Baumann) Brockopp, the third of four children that included a sister, Irene Haberer, and two brothers, Harold and Gerald Brockopp.
Harry graduated from Alexandria High School in 1949.
Harry married our wonderful mother, Beverly Ann Larson, on October 8, 1950 in Alexandria, officiated by his father. She died on March 12, 1978. Four children were born to them. The Brockopp family lived in Minneapolis and Mound for 25 years. Harry was employed by ABC Motors and then Iowa National Mutual Insurance when the family moved to the Twin Cities in 1953. He also owned Golden Rule Builders, in which many beautiful homes were built with skilled craftsmanship, including the home he built on Lake Miltona upon his retirement. In his spare time, Harry had a trucking and transport company. Harry was a multi-talented man in many areas.
Harry’s family was his pride and joy. He enjoyed living at the lake, traveling, crafts, cooking, canning and riding his “Harley.”
Harry is survived by his loving children, Terry LeAnn Jorgensen (Jerry Jorgensen), Michael (Betty) Brockopp, Kathryn DiAnn Kallas, Richard (Danielle) Brockopp; wonderful loving grandchildren, Jeremiah Jacob, Angela Ann Jorgensen (Michael Denruiter), Natalie Brockopp (Nick Boehme), Michael Brockopp, Kristyn Ann Kallas, Matthew Kallas, Natalie Houle and Cord Houle; also many other loving family and friends.
A special thank you to the Fairview Southdale Hospital ICU staff and the 7th floor staff. Your loving care and kindness we will never forget.
A private memorial service in celebration of Dad’s life was held at Kinkead Cemetery Sunset Memorial Park in Alexandria on Saturday, September 8 with the Rev. William F. Moeller officiating. Pallbearers were sons, Michael Brockopp and Richard Brockopp; grandsons, Jeremiah Jacob, Michael Brockopp, Matthew Kallas; friends, Jerry Jorgensen and Nick Boehme. A lakeside luncheon at Dad’s, and a family evening dinner followed the service at Famous Dave’s, one of his favorites.
To both our father and mother, always know how much you will be treasured in all of our hearts. We love you.
Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.

I am so sorry to learn of my uncle's passing, but I am glad I was able to spend some time with him at his lakeside home in Miltona in August. God bless him in his eternal life with our heavenly Father. Jerome Haberer Prescott Valley, Arizona09/14/2012 9:19 AM
