Thomas John Mahoney, 48, Alexandria, formerly of Morris, died September 1, 2012 near Hancock, due to injuries suffered from a trucking accident.

Thomas John Mahoney, 48, Alexandria, formerly of Morris, died September 1, 2012 near Hancock, due to injuries suffered from a trucking accident.

Tom, son of David and Virginia (Peltier) Mahoney, was born March 13, 1964 at Morris. He grew up on the family farm between Morris and Appleton, and attended elementary school at St. Mary’s in Morris. Tom graduated from Morris High School in 1982 and attended Alexandria Technical School in Alexandria.

Most recently, Tom had been working for Independent Farmers Agricultural Services and did seasonal work for C.R. Koehl and Sons, both near Hancock. He was united in marriage to Theresa Gondek on September 17, 2010. The couple made their home in Alexandria.

Tom was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pool. Most of all, Tom loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa, of Alexandria; five children, Mandi Mahoney, Carson City, NV, Dallas Mahoney, Marshall, Danielle Vanderhyde, Brooke Vanderhyde and Gabe Gondek, all of Alexandria; his parents, David and Virginia Mahoney, Morris; two brothers, Jeff (Sherie) Mahoney, Glenwood, and David (Nichole) Mahoney, Donnelly; two sisters, Susan (Ed) Lembcke, Morris, and Sandy (Brent) Hill, Benson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, John “Jack” and Marjorie Mahoney and Thomas and Josephine Peltier; and seven uncles.

A memorial service for Tom was held on Thursday, September 6 at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Celebrant for the Mass was Father Robert Kieffer. Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
