Marlyn “Lynn” Laverna Lubben, 83, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at her home.
Marlyn was born March 10, 1929 to Jonas and Florence (Ekstrom) Holm in a farmhouse in rural New Effington, South Dakota. She was the oldest of eight children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Walla Lutheran Church in rural New Effington. She grew up and went to a country school in Victor, SD, Rosholt High School, and W.C.S.A. in Morris, MN.
Marlyn worked as a clerk in a grocery store in Wheaton, where she met Albert Lubben. They were married on March 20, 1948. To this union they were blessed with four daughters, Diane, Judy, Brenda and Renae. They lived and farmed near Norcross, Tintah and Barrett. Marlyn worked as a nurse’s aide for 12 years at the Hoffman Nursing Home. In 2000, they moved to Alexandria and bought a town home. They were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Lynn's big smiles and hugs gave her family and friends much joy.
She is survived by her three daughters Judy (Rick) Fabian of St. Cloud, Brenda (Ron) Snartland of Mesa, AZ; and Renae (Mel) Morse of Alexandria; son-in-law Larry Bugbee of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren, Dana (Todd) Berg of Stillwater, Matt (Joanna) Bugbee of Otsego, Tracy (Paul) Hedstrom of Hoffman, Erin (Bryan) Roe of Sauk Rapids, Sam (Sara) Bugbee of St. Paul, Andy Morse of Carlos, and Sara (Neil) Keane of St. Paul; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Delphine (Gary) Hermanson of Mesa, AZ; three brothers, Dallas (DeLoris) Holm of Blaine, Gordon (Linda) Holm of Pearland, TX, and Ron (Margie) Holm of Kerrville, TX; and sister-in-law, Judy Holm of Broussard, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Lubben; daughter, Diane Bugbee; granddaughter, Chris Fabian; sisters, Ardell Holm and Arlett Gabbert; and brother, Eldean Holm.
A funeral service was held Saturday, September 1 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Eric Van Scharrel officiating. Interment was at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
