Mary Brosh, 93

Mary Rose Brosh, 93, Glenwood, died August 1, 2012 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.

Mary, the daughter of Rudolph and Louise (Prchal) Motis, was born December 10, 1918 in Lake Mary Township. She grew up on a farm in Lake Mary Township before her family moved to Leven Township and then Westport. She attended St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and country school.

In June 1941, she was united in marriage to John Brosh at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in rural Lowry. They made their home on the Brosh family homestead near Lowry, living in the grand house that John helped build when he was growing up there.

Mary and John worked hand in hand on the farm, raising chickens each summer, dressed to sell to people in the community for their winter pantry. They also raised pigs, chickens, several teams of beautiful horses, milked cows and grew grain and corn crops. Along with farming, Mary was employed at Quinco Press as a camera operator from 1969 to 1984.

She loved animals, farming, doing crafts and enjoyed having people come to visit. She always had delicious goodies and meals ready for any visitors. Mary was a fabulous baker and made many dozens of kolaches for family gatherings. Mary and John never had any children of their own, but were loved dearly by many nieces and nephews who spent fun times with them at their farm.

In 1974, the couple moved into Glenwood. They shared 49 years of marriage before John passed away in 1990. In 2005, Mary moved to Parkview Court in Glenwood. She stayed there until 2011 when she entered Glenwood Retirement Village.

Mary is survived by her many nieces and nephews as well as grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, Ben Motis; and sister, Helen Weisgram.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, August 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Michael Wolfbauer officiating. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood.
