Ken was born January 26, 1921 to Joseph and Marie Hodek. Following graduation from Hopkins High School, Ken served with the U.S. Navy as a gunner’s mate. Ken received four battle stars for service in the Solomon Islands in 1943.
Ken married N. Patricia Malone in Minneapolis in 1951. The happy couple lived in Alexandria and Ken worked for the Minnesota Department of Economic Security for more than 30 years. He was a proud life member of the Alexandria VFW Club and he served as quartermaster for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn; sister, Myrtle; wife, Patricia; and son, Kenneth Charles Jr.
He is survived by Kenneth Charles Jr.’s wife, Deanna, of St. Cloud; son, Bruce and his wife, Jan, and three granddaughters, Jessica, Nicole and Alexandra, of St. Paul; and son, Nicholas and wife, Jodi, two granddaughters, Hayley and Jayde, and two great-grandchildren, Scout and Holden, of Alexandria.
Ken was a beloved dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
Ken will always be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his playful teasing manner, and his intense love for the outdoors. Ken’s retirement was spent fishing and hunting with his three sons in the local area.
Funeral services were held June 30, with Wayne Erickson officiating. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers included all of Ken’s grandchildren. Delroy Johnson was an honorary casket bearer. Military honors were provided by the local VFW Post 936, American Legion Post 87 and the Minnesota National Guard.
