Michael Robert McGinn, 55, of Alexandria, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Michael Robert McGinn, 55, of Alexandria, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Michael was born May 10, 1957 in Minneapolis and was adopted by Edward and Janice McGinn of Minneapolis. In 1964, Mike’s family moved to Alexandria, where he attended Jefferson High School.

Michael was united in marriage to Kathleen Genty on October 27, 1984. To this union two children were born: Jacob Michael and Rachel Joan. Mike worked for Ellingson Plumbing and Heating as a HVAC installer, up until his diagnosis in October of 2011.

His passions included hunting, fishing, spending time out at the lake and spending time with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Jake (Theresa) McGinn, Rachel McGinn; grandchildren, Colie and Seth; brother, John McGinn; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Janice McGinn; and father-in-law, Richard Genty.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Solum, Bruce Lein, John Genty, Vic Benzinger, Carl Henning, Ed Kephart and Norb Lenarz.
