Steven Mark Peterson, 56, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Steven Mark Peterson, 56, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Steven was born April 28, 1956 in Minneapolis and adopted by Evald and Adeline Peterson of Farwell. He was baptized and confirmed at Norunga Lutheran Church in Lowry.

He attended grade school at Farwell and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1974. He received an accounting degree from Fergus Falls Community College and worked for the state of Minnesota in St. Paul.

Steven’s love of cooking led him to a second career as a chef. He worked at various restaurants in St. Paul, Minneapolis, Alexandria and North Dakota. Also, he was a nursing assistant and took care of the elderly at Walker-Methodist in Minneapolis and Bethany Home in Alexandria.

He had many hobbies including cooking, planting flowers, gardening, drawing, painting, music and his cherished pets. He participated in singing in a madrigal group while attending Fergus Falls Community College.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Evald and Adeline (Anderson) Peterson.

He is survived by his sister, Julene Peterson of Alexandria and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 25 at 11 a.m. at Norunga Lutheran Church in rural Lowry. Interment was at Norunga Lutheran Church Cemetery.

I was very sorry to hear the news that Steven passed away. I have not seen him in many years but have many good memories of being neighbor's long ago in Farwell and neighbors didn't come any better than the Peterson family. Julie Herrlinger Saltee
