Ronald “Ron” Haabala, 54, loving husband and father, rose up and joined the Lord God at 2:43 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2012

Ronald was born to Ralph and Sylvia Haabala on June 8, 1957 in Alexandria. He grew up as a hard-working farm boy in Farwell.

He was united in marriage to Linda Sammons October 27, 1979. They lived in Farwell and Bismarck ND, before settling in Mounds View, where Ron worked for Aagard Sanitation for 14 years. In 2002, Ron and Linda followed their dream and moved to Port Angeles, Washington. There is where he went to work for Waste Connections (D/M Disposal-Murrays Sanitation) located in Port Townsend, as one of the top diesel mechanics. He had the talent and ability to fix and fabricate all things mechanical and electrical.

Ron cherished his children and wife. They were the center of his universe and truly the only ones he allowed in his space. He spent all of his free time with them. As a family they took many road trips to Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Washington and Oregon.

There were also camping trips, train trips to the West Coast, sailing on Lake Superior, boating on the lakes around Alexandria, swimming, fishing and hunting and a glorious trip to Maui, Hawaii in February 2011, creating memories that will live on forever.

Ron’s illness began in July of 2011 and was the beginning of his long, suffering journey home. He will be sorrowfully missed but we take comfort in knowing his pain and suffering are over and he is with the Lord.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Sammons); and his dear children, son, Chase and daughter, Hope. He is also survived by his mother, Sylvia; mother-in-law, Connie Sammons; brothers, Phillip (Patricia), Wayne (Cindy), Adrian (Jean); sisters, Karen Johnson (Kevin), Susan Krig (Doug); and many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews, who loved him and he cherished them all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; brother, Dale; father-in-law, Donald; and brother-in-law, David.

A visitation celebrating the life of Ron will be held at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria on Friday, June 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. There will also be a gathering to celebrate his Life in Port Angeles, WA sometime in July.

The family suggests memorial gifts, as Linda will be traveling by plane back home to Washington state.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.
