Thelma Spaulding, 94

Thelma Irene Spaulding, 94, passed away June 1, 2012 in Arden Hills.

Thelma was born to Knute and Inga (Vaksdal) Haugen on July 20, 1917 at Badger, Iowa. She completed nurse's training at Fairview Hospital School of Nursing and married Loren L. Spaulding, then a student at Luther Theological Seminary, on September 7, 1946. She accompanied her husband in ministries in Epping, ND; Joice, IA; Rolla and West Fargo, ND; Minneapolis; Grafton, ND, and Arlington, IA.

In 1981, Thelma and Loren retired in Alexandria. They moved to the Twin Cities in 2010 to be closer to family. She has now moved to the heavenly home Jesus has prepared for her.

She is survived by her husband, Loren; sons, John of St. Paul, Paul (Renee) of Minneapolis, and Philip (Helen) of Andover; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth of Fort Dodge, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1901 Portland Ave., Minneapolis, with visitation one hour prior.
