Tommy “Tom” Wayne Ludwig, 67, Osakis, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at his home.

Tommy “Tom” Wayne Ludwig, 67, Osakis, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at his home.

Tom was born May 26, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa to Luverne and Shirley (Henshaw) Ludwig. Tom and his family moved to Alexandria in 1957 and he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962. He attended the University of Minnesota, Morris for one year and then began work at Land O’ Lakes for 21 years. He then worked at Northern Food and Dairy, which was purchased by and became Sun Opta, for the last 25 years in sales and procurement.

Tom was united in marriage to Arlene Beste on December 13, 1986. They resided near Osakis. Tom loved living on a farm where he could raise beef cows, pigs and chickens. He liked to play dart ball, softball, and going hunting in his younger years. Most important were his family and friends. He was a hard working man who will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Ludwig of Osakis; eight children, Todd (Ena) Ludwig of Alexandria, Trevor (Shelly) Ludwig of Alexandria, Scott (Heather) Ludwig of Monticello, Jon (Corinna) Ludwig of Augusta, GA, Jodi (Troy) Becker of Urbank, Jena Ludwig (Michael Huffington) of Fargo, ND, Kari Ludwig of Osakis, and Chris Ludwig of Osakis; nine grandchildren, Derek Ludwig, Brandon Ludwig, Brittany Ludwig, Brett Ludwig, Bryce Ludwig, Seth Ludwig, Autumn Ludwig, Kolby Becker, Chloe Ludwig; sisters, Peggy (Alan) Hansen of Zimmerman, Kathy (Paul) Brada of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Larry (Bev) Ludwig of Alexandria, Tim (Mari) Ludwig of Long Prairie; stepmother, Charlotte Ludwig of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Ludwig; and parents, Luverne and Shirley Ludwig.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 22 at Osakis Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steve Hilde officiating. Pat Converse was the organist. Honorary urn bearers were Tom’s grandchildren.
