Garnet Nigg, 83

Garnet Clarice (Dobbs) Nigg, 83, passed away on May 7, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Garnet Clarice (Dobbs) Nigg, 83, passed away on May 7, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Garnet was born July 29, 1928 to Lyle and Lillian (Richardson) Dobbs in Graceville. She spent her early years with her brothers on their farm. After graduating high school in 1946, Garnet moved to Minneapolis for several years, working in a department store.

On February 23, 1957, Garnet married Lloyd Nigg in Minneapolis. The couple lived at several different locations around Central Minnesota, while raising their four children. Garnet was a caring mother and homemaker, always putting her family first. The family settled in Alexandria for 25 years until Lloyd retired in 1990. The couple then moved back to Browns Valley, going to Lake Havasu City for the winters.

Garnet especially enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, as well as playing bridge with her card groups. She also kept busy as an active member of their church. Garnet was often crocheting, crafting or doing word puzzles and never turned down an opportunity to go shopping or have some chocolate. Garnet was a sassy and sweet soul who will be missed by all; particularly by her family with whom she loved spending time.

Garnet is survived by her “Lloydie Boy,” husband, Lloyd Nigg; her “Honeys,” children, James/Reg (Mary) Nigg of Howard Lake; Karen (Bill) Muzik and grandchildren, Lynn (Lindsay) and Kayla (Patrick)] of Alexandria; Lee (Theresa) Nigg and grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren and Landen of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and Rob Nigg (Heidi) of Canada; brother, Dean (Marge) Dobbs of Oregon; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Garnet was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald; and many other relatives.

Garnet has now joined her Heavenly family and we will celebrate her life with the optimism she shared.

A memorial service for Garnet will be held at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley on Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, South Dakota is in charge of the arrangements.
