Lorraine Danielson, 89, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Knute Nelson nursing home in Alexandria.

Lorraine was born October 8, 1922 in Belle River Township, Douglas County. She was baptized and confirmed at Fahlun Lutheran Church. She moved to Alexandria and was employed by Dr. Towner, working for her room and board while finishing her high school years and graduating from Alexandria High School in 1940.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Clinton Danielson on Palm Sunday, March 29,1942 at Fahlun Lutheran Church. They made their home in the Nelson area until 1948 when they purchased the family farm in Ben Wade Township. Lorraine was a homemaker and a faithful partner, working side by side with Clinton. She was a devoted and loving mother to her eight children and gave selflessly to her family. They farmed until semi-retiring in 1980 when they built their retirement home near Farwell. Clinton passed away in 1985 and Lorraine moved to Bethel Manor in Alexandria in the fall of 1996.

Lorraine loved and took great joy and pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a deep faith in God and Jesus Christ was her anchor through the difficult times in her life. She loved her church, Norunga Lutheran and her church family. She enjoyed traveling and took many bus tours, with Alaska being one of her favorite destinations. A trip to Norway and Sweden was another highlight of her traveling.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Lonnie) of Farwell, Duane (Jeannie) of Alexandria, Darrel (Brenda) of Lowry, Dean of Marshall, Linda (Jon) Rudell of Hoffman, Curt (Marj) of Farwell, Shirley (Dave) Mork of Duluth, and Bob (Jan) of Glenwood; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma Anderson of Farwell and many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton; grandson, Benjamin Danielson; sisters, Eileen Schackel, Edith Larson and LaVonne Steidl.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 7 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with her son, the Rev. Duane Danielson officiating. Internment was at Norunga Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Lowry. Casket bearers were Dennis, Duane, Darrel, Dean, Curt and Bob Danielson. Honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
