Mary Ellen (Mason) Larson, 87, Alexandria, formerly of Eden Prairie, died April 28, 2012.
Mary was born October 25, 1924 and was raised in Minneapolis. She was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
Mary was a dedicated and amazing mother to five boys. She was an avid sports fan and always in attendance at her sons’ activities.
She is survived by sons, Terry (Jo), Norm (Sherry), Robert, Kendall (Becky) and Peter (Michelle); grandchildren, Christy, Sean, Noel, Chris, Kevin, Corey, Lindsay, Jake, Kyle, Emily, Mallory, Lauren, Thomas, Bobbie Jo and Stephen; and nine great-grandchildren.
After raising her boys in Eden Prairie, Mary moved to Alexandria in 1989. Though her gardening started on the farm in Eden Prairie, it continued with enthusiasm at her lake home in Alexandria. Mary’s other passions included dancing, fishing, penny slots at the casino with her friends, sewing and quilting. Her talents gave way to “The Quilt Shop,” which she owned and operated until her passing.
In Alexandria, Mary volunteered countless hours to her work and newfound friends with the Senior Companion Program. Mary’s family and friends were always welcomed at her home by Mary’s smile, zeal for life and of course, a cup of coffee.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 12 at noon at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
