Myrtle E. Forster, 93, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.
Myrtle was born December 22, 1918 in Carlos Township, the daughter of Daniel and Emma (Fiss) Kingston. She was raised and attended grade school in the Carlos area.
She married Michael Forster on September 23, 1941 at St. Nicholas Parish in Belle River. They farmed and raised their family near Carlos.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she was involved with St. Barbara’s Mission Circle and the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Carlos Senior Citizens, where she volunteered on the popcorn wagon and received the Most Outstanding Senior Citizen Award in 1990.
Myrtle was always active in her younger years. She liked mixed doubles bowling in Osakis, gardening and attending summer parades with her husband and his horses. She also liked listening to old-time music, the rosary and gospel hymns on the radio. Myrtle enjoyed a night out to eat and time to reminisce with family and friends. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Trosvig of Fergus Falls; son, Bruce (Glenda) Forster of Carlos; foster sons, Dominic (Mary) Landowski of Carlos, Tom (Terri) Toenjes of Carlos; grandchildren, Debbie Shateri of Fergus Falls, Jeff Trosvig of Alexandria, Doug (Dawn) Trosvig of Fergus Falls, Tammy Trosvig of Las Vegas, NV, and Ryan Forster of Carlos; great-grandchildren, Rezza Shateri of Fargo, ND, Emma Haviland of Las Vegas, NV, and Tristan Trosvig of Fergus Falls; great-great-grandson, Gavin Shateri of Fargo, ND; foster grandchildren, Vicki Ray, Keith Toenjes, Kathy (Lynn) Koester, Karen (Tim) Wibstad, Kurt (Jill) Landowski, and Kristi (Jay) Ritter; sister-in-law, Frances Thorson of Fergus Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Forster; son, Greg Forster; son-in-law, Dean Trosvig; and brothers, Walter, Verne, Earl and Roy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 10 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River with Father Dave Petron officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Doug Trosvig, Jeff Trosvig, Rezza Shateri, Kurt Landowski, Tom Toenjes and Jim Kingston. Honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren and those who knew and loved Myrtle.
