Victoria Alm, 79

Victoria Mae Alm, 79, Eaton, Colorado, died March 21, 2012.

Victoria Mae Alm, 79, Eaton, Colorado, died March 21, 2012.

Vicki was born April 28, 1932 on a small farm near Farwell. She grew up with her brother and sister in an age of hard work, little money and strong family ties.

Vicki was an excellent student, and after graduating from Glenwood High School, she enrolled in the Swedish Hospital Nursing Program in Minneapolis. Graduating early, with honors, she soon moved west to Greeley, Colorado to work as a registered nurse at the brand new Weld County General Hospital, which had just been built on 16th Street.

Arriving in Greeley, she soon met the love of her life, a farm boy named Raymond Alm. Vicki soon gave up a career in nursing to focus on her husband and family. Vicki and Ray had more than 53 years together with three children, Susan (Neal) Johnson, Carl (Josie) Alm and Wayne (Julie) Alm, all of rural Eaton; as well as eight grandchildren, Diana Johnson, Brent Johnson, Nicholas Alm, Tanner Alm, Trevor Alm, Patrick Alm, Tyler Alm, all of Eaton and great-grandson, Hayden Alm of Wilbur, NE. She is also survived by her brother, Rodney Turnquist of Rosemount, and a sister, Eleanor Fahlin of Kensington.

Vicki was the center of her family and an anchor for her friends and neighbors. She could fix dinner for 20 people, find her husband’s wallet, and raise the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen. In her earlier days, she was there to brand the calves, drive the silage truck, babysit the grandkids and teach Sunday school. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eaton and the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Greeley.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Turnquist; father, Oscar Turnquist; and grandson, Christopher Alm.

We will all miss an extraordinary wife, mother, sister and grandma.

Services were held Monday March 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Inurnment at the Eaton Cemetery will be held at a later.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Friends may view the online obituary, sign the guest book and send condolences at www.allnutt.com.
