Koyla Klason, 87

Tiny Koyla Mae passed away March 20, 2012 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria. Her family thanks them for their wonderful care. Koyla was diagnosed four-months earlier with lung cancer (she was not a smoker). Born December 28, 1924, she lived her childhood years on Kreidler’s Corner in rural Herman with parents, George and Clarice Kreidler, and siblings.

Koyla is survived by her only child and son-in-law, Pam and Doug Dahl from Richmond, Texas; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Lisa), Nicholas (Maria), all of Richmond, as well as Meredith (Kevin) Dahl Felz of Manhattan, NY; four great-grandchildren, Nichole and Ben (Jonathan) and Peyton and Cadence (Nicholas). Also left to mourn her are her two sisters, Phyllis Ward of Hamilton, MT and her three children, Nancy, Rob and Jeff, and Peggy Smith of Winterhaven, FL and her three children, Wendy, Mark and Lori.

Her previously deceased brother, Gene Kreidler, had three children, Susan, Julie and Brad. She also had several caring in-laws in the Herman area, including her brother- and sister-in-law, Willis and Sybil Klason and their four children, Rick, Gary, Tom and Laurie of Minnesota. Also in Herman are sister-in-law, Mary Ann and husband Donald “Dutch” (also her cousin) Johnson; their four children, Keith, Karen, Greg and Gwen live in the San Diego, CA area. Her cousins Katherine Haney, Barb Simpson, Carol Danzeizen and Faye Vipond are still in Herman. Her grandmother was a Marth.

A memorial service will be held in Herman during the summer of 2012 and it is hoped her friends in Morris (Koyla’s longtime loved residence) and Alexandria, where she was a nine-year member of First Congregational United Church of Christ (Pastor Scott Keehn), will be able to attend.

She was preceded in death by her personality-plus husband, Jack Klason. They will be together with family at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.

Some of her Morris friends currently live in the Alexandria area and were much comfort to her, including Dottie Watzke, Arlene Johnson, Kirk Anderson, Marcia Gae (Erickson) Schmidt, Romayne Strand, and niece Lori Blomberg.

Koyla was always a fashion piece and loyal friend. Her friends were very important to her.

She worked as a bookkeeper in the Morris area until they moved to Lake Geneva and then to Mesa, AZ, where Jack died of a stroke in April of 2003.

Koyla’s family hopes to see you at the United Methodist Church in Herman this summer.
