Leonard M. Lukes, 51, died on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Leonard was born in Alexandria on April 20, 1960 to Melvin and Tillie (Klimek) Lukes. He worked for Mayo as an RN for 14 years. Leonard loved nursing, spending time with his children, and helping friends work on handyman projects. He enjoyed restoring cars, good home-cooked meals, studying the Bible, and going to ballgames with the boys.

Leonard is survived by three children, Kendra (Jeremy) Burget of Rochester, Kolten Lukes of Rochester, and Kaden Lukes, of Rochester; his father, Melvin; five siblings, Mark (Betty) Lukes of Alexandria, Peter (Theresa) Lukes of Alexandria, Francis Lukes of Colorado, Kevin Lukes of Alexandria, and Loren (Diane) Lukes of Alexandria; and former wife, Tamra.

Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Kaleb; his mother, Tillie; and his sister, Sylvia.

A funeral service was held for Leonard on Monday, March 19 at Rochester Assembly of God, 4240 18th Ave. NW, with the Rev. Jim Filbeck officiating. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery.
