Ervin Lexus Grubb, 96, of Alexandria, formerly of Brandon, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Knute Nelson Home.

Ervin Lexus Grubb, 96, of Alexandria, formerly of Brandon, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Knute Nelson Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Brandon. Friends may call on Friday, March 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. There will be at prayer service at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Ervin was born September 21, 1915, in Holmes City Township the son of Victor and Rose (Maruskie) Grubb. He attended District #4 country school through the 8th grade and then helped his father farm.

On June 4, 1940, Ervin was united in marriage to Ione Lehn. The couple moved to Leaf Valley for 10 years and then bought a home in Brandon. Ervin did some farming on his own land and also helped a neighbor, Norman Severson. He belonged to the Garfield Shipping Association and drove semi trucks to St. Paul. He also drove school bus for 10 years for the Brandon School District.

Ervin loved to garden and enjoyed giving the produce away. Through the years he picked hundreds of pints of raspberries – even if it was hot and the mosquitoes swarmed around him. He also enjoyed playing bridge with his sisters and 500 and whist with the seniors. He loved to dance, especially the polka.

Ervin and Ione did a lot of traveling. The couple had an RV and belonged to the All Seasons Travel. They visited every state with Utopia Tours and toured Northwest Europe twice. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Ione; son, James and wife, Barbara of Fresno, CA; daughter, Virgene Grubb of Alexandria; four grandchildren: Gaylen, Christopher and Kasey Grubb, Philip Reiling; two great grandchildren: April and Aaron Reiling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Virginia Gulbranson, Adeline Kirkwood, Marjorie Grubb; and brother, Rodney.
