Lillian Wildman, age 83 of Glenwood, died February 24, 2012 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Lillian, daughter of Frank and Barbara (Kalina) Tvrdik, was born July 22, 1928 in Lake Mary Township, Douglas County. She grew up on a farm in Lake Mary Township and attended country school through 8th grade.
On March 30, 1954, Lillian was united in marriage to Douglas Wildman in Glenwood, and their marriage was blessed with six children. They made their home on a farm north of Glenwood where they farmed for their entire lives. They milked cows, raised pigs and chickens, and for many years Lil sold eggs all over Glenwood. The couple shared 47 years of marriage before Doug passed away on October 30, 2001.
She loved living on the farm and enjoyed doing chores, taking care of the livestock, and feeding the calves every day. She also enjoyed playing cards, taking care of her pets, and spending time with her family. Every Saturday she would spend the day baking. She would make kolaches, cinnamon rolls, fried doughnuts and rolls, so that her family always had something sweet to eat. In her younger years, she loved to get dressed up and go dancing with Doug at Gene’s Barn near Alexandria.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet (David) Svec of Lowry and Betty (Doug) Evans of Zimmerman; sons, Harvey (Carla) Wildman of Glenwood, Harold (Jaci) Wildman of Villard, Paul (Leisa) Wildman of Glenwood, and Brian (Stacy) Wildman of Glenwood; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; brother, Frank (Clara) Tvrdik of Alexandria; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Barbara Tvrdik; husband, Douglas Wildman; brothers, Wencil, Anton, Joseph in infancy (Anton’s twin), Fred, Thomas, David and Henry Tvrdik; sisters, Christine Tvrdik and Mary Chan.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28 at Glenwood Lutheran Church with the Rev. Krista Lee officiating. Interment was at Lake Reno Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Glenwood.
Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood; www.hoplinfuneralhome.com.
