Thelma was born June 19, 1937 in Alexandria to Robert and Helga (Linder) Jelsing. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria and confirmed at First Congregational Church in Alexandria. Thelma attended Alexandria School District 206.
Thelma was united in marriage to Milo Samuelson on November 17, 1955 at Congregational Church in Alexandria. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters, Shelly and Holly. The family built their home on Lake Cowdry, which she loved. Thelma worked at Herberger’s in the shoe department for 11 years. Milo died on January 12, 1995. Thelma married a high school classmate, Gordon Jobe on April 28, 1995 in Alexandria at Bethesda Lutheran Church. They continued to live on Lake Cowdry, where Thelma loved to float in the lake and sit on the deck drinking iced tea.
Thelma loved being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a spunky lady who was the life of the party. Thelma enjoyed reading, talking on the phone and telling jokes.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon, of Alexandria; two daughters, Shelly (John) Lynn of Fargo, ND and Holly Rudolph of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Tiffany Heinzen, Lindsey Loll, Devon Rudolph, Alexis Lynn, and Ramey Rudolph; two step-children, Nancy (Mike) Ziebarth of Boise, ID and Jeff (Terri) Jobe of Clackamas, OR; three sisters, Helen (Harley) Fahrenholz of Alexandria, June Steinle of Alexandria and Norma (Dennis) Samuelson of Battle Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helga; husband, Milo; and infant sister, Norma.
A memorial service was held Saturday, January 21 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Kent Stillson officiating. Music was provided by soloist, Doug Tatge and organist, Mark Graff. Honorary urn bearers were Thelma’s grandchildren, Tiffany Heinzen, Lindsey Loll, Devon Rudolph, Alexis Lynn and Ramey Rudolph.
