Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Estelle M. Spoden, 94, of St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Estelle M. Spoden, 94, of St. Cloud who died with family by her side on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Sterling Park Care Center in Waite Park. The Rev. Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Friends may call between 4 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 26 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Estelle was born October 21, 1917 in Lake Henry to the late Leo and Adella (Winter) Henning. She married Leander J. Spoden on May 3, 1941 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and lived all of her married life in St. Cloud. Estelle worked at various factory jobs and retired from her favorite “Fanny Farmer.” She was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish, Christian Women, Catholic United Financial and Legion of Mary, MCCL and the St. Cloud VFW Post #428 Ladies Auxiliary.
Estelle treasured her grandchildren and her time spent with them. She also enjoyed bowling, quilting and spending time with her family at the lake cabin.
Estelle is survived by her children, Ginny Houck of Mazeppa, Chuck of Grand Rapids, Randy (Andria) of Alexandria, Joan Spoden-Fenster (Bob) of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Delbert (Clara) Henning of Waite Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leander, in 1967; infant daughter, Patricia; daughter-in-law, Pat Spoden; son-in-law, Ed Houck; brothers, Marvin, Roger and Walter; and sister, Dolores Forner.
