Dennis Jerome Clark, 72, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at St. Cloud Hospital.

Dennis Jerome Clark, 72, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at St. Cloud Hospital. Always thinking of others, he was able to be an eye donor for the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank.

Dennis was born December 26, 1939 on the family farm in Stevens County near Hoffman, the son of Donald and Lillian (Nordstrom) Clark. He was baptized April 2, 1940 and confirmed June 6, 1954 at Bethel Lutheran in Hoffman. He graduated from Hoffman High School in 1958 and continued his education at the University of Minnesota.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years. He met Joyce Olson through a mutual friend. They were united in marriage on June 9, 1962, in Nashwauk. They lived in Minneapolis and Denny worked for the TRW Corporation until 1965. Denny and Joyce moved to Nashwauk for a few years and to Virginia, Minnesota in 1968. In 1970, a daughter, Catherine, was born to this union.

Denny worked for Eveleth Taconite Company in Virginia for 20 years. He then worked as the facilities manager for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in District #1 for 18 years. Denny retired on March 17, 2005, and soon moved back to the Alexandria area.

Denny loved to work with wood and spent many happy hours in his workshop creating and fixing things for his family and friends. He also belonged to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and was active with many church activities.

Denny was a special person, always smiling and gracious to everyone. He was a kind and tender man who had a strong faith in the Lord. He was a wonderful and loving husband of 49 years, father and grandfather. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Clark of Alexandria; daughter, Cathy (Steve) Green of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Spencer and Andrew Green of Fargo, ND; brother, Leighton (Sherri) Clark of Port Angeles, WA; sister, Janice (Ron) Christianson of Fridley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ramon Clark.

A memorial service was held Saturday, January 14 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Garfield with the Rev. David Gran officiating. Greg Kapphahn provided the music.
