Dorothy Marie Cantrell, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went peacefully January 7, 2012 at West Wind Village in Morris.

Dorothy Marie Cantrell, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went peacefully January 7, 2012 at West Wind Village in Morris.

Dorothy was born July 12, 1923 in Minneapolis to Joseph and Estella Fisher. At age 20, she proudly joined the Coast Guard, serving in WWII as a Seaman 1st class and teletype operator.

She was happily married to Robert Edward Cantrell in 1946 until his death in 1983. Together they had three children. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, shopping, and found great joy in the movies and music of Elvis Presley.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Patricia Lewis; and her son, John.

She is survived by her daughter Rita; son-in-law, Wendell Sowers; grandchildren, Richard Lewis, Nita Jones and husband Brent, and Kent Cantrell and wife Tina; as well as great-grandchildren, Ford Taylor, Agatha Cantrell, Isac Cantrell and Fletcher Jones.

Private memorial services were held by her family.
