Janet “Jan” Lou Westberg, of Plymouth, lost her courageous battle with cancer in Hospice Care at the Golden Valley Rehabilitation and Care Center on January 1, 2012 at the age of 60.
Jan was born April 14, 1951 in Alexandria to Lester and Irene (Thorstad) Westberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hoffman. She graduated from Hoffman High School in 1969 and obtained a degree in graphic design from Alexandria Technical College in 1971.
From an early age, Jan shared her gift of creativity. She had a wide variety of creative outlets including painting, drawing, graphic arts, book illustrations, photography and connecting to other creative people. This creativity led to a lifetime of artistry and graphic design. Jan had clients and colleagues from a wide variety of industries throughout the years.
She loved to travel and try new things. Pets were very special to Jan. Her beloved dog, Garbo and most recently her cat, Otis provided her with special companionship and comfort.
Jan was blessed to have the support of her “church home” at Plymouth Covenant Church. She was able to share her creative gifts and be part of their loving and caring church family. Her deep faith grew within Bible study groups, assisting in the youth ministry and mentoring immigrant children. Jan’s friends and family were always greeted with smiles and hugs.
Jan is survived by her sister, Connie (Westberg) Bye of Hoffman; and nephews, Andrew Bye of Alexandria and Bryan Bye of Hoffman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Irene Westberg.
A celebration of Jan’s life will be held Sunday, January 8 at 2 p.m. at Plymouth Covenant Church, 4300 Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth.

Connie--I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I don't remember Janet very well, but it is always hard to lose a sibling. My thoughts are with you. Sheila (Hagen) SchulzMorris, MN 01/06/2012 1:39 PM
