Donna Mae Hanson, 80, died December 7, 2011, at Bethany Home in Alexandria.

Donna Mae Hanson, 80, died December 7, 2011, at Bethany Home in Alexandria.

Donna was born in St. Paul on November 4, 1931, the daughter of Frederick R. and Florence (Wasson) Yoch. She was baptized, attended schools and grew to womanhood in St. Paul.

In 1949, Donna married Lester Jacobson and the couple raised their family in St. Paul. During this time, Donna worked for Ramsey County as a nursing aid.

Donna later moved to Orr, where she worked at the Gateway Inn, different resorts, and as a waitress in restaurants. About one year ago, Donna moved to Alexandria to be closer to her son, Dwight and his wife, Darlene Jacobson. At this time she joined Calvary Lutheran Church.

Donna enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and she liked to bake, being especially known for her great tasting banana bread.

Donna is survived by her children, Dwight and wife Darlene Jacobson of Alexandria, Steve Jacobson of Sparta, WI, and Linda Witte of South St. Paul. Also surviving are four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many, many friends.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 15 at 1 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with the Rev. Mark Astrup officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Pastor Tom Kennebeck will give a eulogy. Music will be provided by Kim Byrne.
