Douglas James Wheeler, age 68 of Apple Valley, formerly of Alexandria, passed away suddenly November 28, 2011 at his daughter’s home in New York of an apparent heart attack.
Douglas James Wheeler, age 68 of Apple Valley, formerly of Alexandria, passed away suddenly November 28, 2011 at his daughter’s home in New York of an apparent heart attack.
Doug served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Minnesota Department of Transportation in 2008 after 47-1/2 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diana.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathleen (Berglin) Wheeler; children, Todd (Mary) Wheeler, Charles (Janice) Geris, Curtis Geris (Margo) and Cindy (Todd) Kluver; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; parents, Raymond and Marjorie Wheeler; siblings, Roger (Jodi) Wheeler, Mary (Tony) Valise and Margaret (Neil) Simonson; also by many other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held for Doug on Monday, December 5 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 8250 202nd St., Lakeville.
Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria.
