Following Marvin’s schooling he joined the United States Army. Marvin served in Texas from 1949 to 1951. After his discharge from the Army, Marvin returned to Minnesota. He met Marcella Belohradsky and they were later united in marriage. The couple made their home in Alexandria and they were blessed with one son, Jeff.
Marvin began a career as an over-the-road trucker and worked for a number of different trucking companies in the Alexandria area. Eventually he was able to purchase his own rig and become an independent trucker.
