Frances was born November 15, 1936 on a farm north of Carlos to August and Elda (Weber) Tonn. Later they rented a farm west of Carlos and she grew up on a farm south of Carlos. She attended country school at District #39.

Frances was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel (Trinity) Lutheran Church of Carlos. She graduated from Central High School in Alexandria in 1955 and then went to Teachers Training School in Staples. After teaching in country schools she went to Concordia College in St. Paul for one year to earn a two-year teaching degree. After several years of teaching at the Lutheran School in Dodge Center, she came back home to marry Elroy Beulke in 1961.

She next taught at Zion Lutheran School and in a country school in the Lake Mary area. She concluded her teaching career with the Head Start program as an assistant. She used creative teaching methods, which helped children to see and learn in a fun and memorable fashion. During her years of raising her children, she was a daycare provider in her home, and before returning as an assistant for Head Start, she worked at the Douglas County Public Library.

Frances and Elroy were privileged to celebrate their 50th anniversary this summer. heir marriage was blessed with a son, Roy, and a daughter, Rose. They have six grandchildren.

Frances is survived by her husband, Elroy; son, Roy (Tonya) Beulke; daughter, Rose (Scott) Aune; grandchildren, Samantha, Tiffany and Matthew (Aune), Mackenzie, Makayla and Noah (Beulke).

Frances was well known for her love of children (especially her grandchildren), her dramatic talents in scripture reading at church and her generous giving of artistic mementos to her family and friends. Frances will be remembered for her love of bright colors and her talent for decorating the darker corners of life, reflecting light and beauty in the world around her.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carlos with the Vicar Philip Petersen officiating. Elaine Beulke played the organ and special music was provided by Joan Petersen and Elizabeth Reimers. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Carlos. Casket bearers were David Schuneman, Mark Eberle, Paul Eberle, Darwin Brechbiel, Rodney Jantzen and Ryan Jantzen. Honorary casket bearers were Samantha Aune, Tiffany Aune, Matthew Aune, Mackenzie Beulke, Makayla Beulke and Noah Beulke.
